CadCraft early access is open
Eight apps, each named for the work it does. The site is up, the lineup is public and the early access list is open.
Today we are opening getcadcraft.com and the early access list.
What CadCraft is
CadCraft is a family of eight open-source CAD and BIM apps, each named for the work it does: CadCraft for 2D drafting and documentation, BimCraft for BIM authoring, ModelCraft for 3D modeling, MarkupCraft for drawing review and markup, TakeoffCraft for quantity takeoff and estimating, CivilCraft for civil and site design, DetailCraft for steel and rebar detailing, and PartCraft for parametric parts and assemblies.
Each one is meant to feel familiar from the first hour. The commands, aliases, layouts and shortcuts you already know should work the way your hands expect.
What exists today
This site and a plan. Nothing has shipped, and we will not pretend otherwise: there is no download yet, no version number and no price.
The CadCraft drafting app comes first. Its core is in development now:
- a geometry kernel
- the command line, with the aliases you type without thinking
- layers, linetypes and lineweights
- reading DWG and DXF
The order of work after that is on the roadmap.
What early access gets you
One email when there is a build for your platform, and the occasional progress note. Tell us your role and which apps you care about, and we will use it to decide what comes after the CadCraft drafting app. Join early access.
Tell us what to rebuild next
If there is a tool you would rather own than rent, suggest it. The most-asked-for ideas go on the list everyone can vote on.
