3D modeling for design Planned

ModelCraft

Push, pull and think in three dimensions.

ModelCraft is the quick 3D modeler for the early part of a project, when you are still working out the shape of the thing. Draw a face and push it into a solid, snap to edges, midpoints and axes as you go, and keep the model tidy with groups and components. Save views as scenes with their own styles for the client meeting. Bring in a DWG site plan to model on, and send the massing to BimCraft when the design firms up.

If you sketch buildings in SketchUp, ModelCraft will feel familiar.

What's inside

  • Push/pull solids

Draw a rectangle, pull it into a box, push an opening through it. Faces stay faces and solids stay closed.

  • Groups and components

Group geometry so it stops sticking together, and make components that update everywhere when you edit one.

  • Tape measure and guides

Measure, then drop guide lines and points to model against, the way you would set out on site.

  • Inference snapping

Snap to endpoints, midpoints, edges and the red, green and blue axes, with the inference shown as you move.

  • Scenes and styles

Save camera views with their own edge, face and shadow styles, and step through them in a presentation.

  • Straight into BimCraft

Import a DWG to model on, and hand the massing to BimCraft as IFC when it is time to make it a building.

Concept drawings

Drawn for this page to show what ModelCraft is being built to do. They are concept drawings, not screenshots: there is no software to screenshot yet.
