FeatureLC.21 Link to LC.21 Beginner 3D and print prep

Covers Tinkercad, Meshmixer and Netfabb. A beginner mode in ModelCraft, and print prep on the 3D-print check: repair, hollow, supports preview, STL/3MF. Owner 2026-10-23: build the rest of the cut line in 0.7: supports preview, beginner menu style, wall-thickness check, hollow with drain holes, repair. Session print-07 (W3.20).

FeatureMC-DIVIDE Link to MC-DIVIDE ModelCraft: divide a line or arc into equal parts

With an edge or arc selected, typing /n in the value box (the same /3 that spreads Move copies today) splits it into n equal edges, with a vertex at each division. An arc is divided along its curve, by equal angle, not along its chord. A curve made of many segments (a circle's or an arc's edges) is divided by length along the whole curve. Also a Divide… item on the right-click menu that asks for the number, so it works on a tablet with no keyboard. One undo step. Build it on model.js splitEdge. In the m3d kernel, so re-copy to the other apps (docs/3D-SPEC.md). Tests in bin/test-modelcraft.mjs: a line /3, an arc /4 (equal angles), a 24-segment circle /6, undo.

FeatureMC-CALC Link to MC-CALC ModelCraft: arithmetic in the value box (tape measure, Move, Push/pull)

ModelCraft was left out of DF.3 (0.6 typed arithmetic): its value box reads 2.5 but refuses 2.5/3, 4+7/16 and (2.5)/3. Give it its own copy of the DF.3 parser (cadcraft/dev/lencalc.js rules: + - * / and parentheses over lengths with units, no eval, a refusal that says where) and use it in units.js parseValue for every length, in the tape measure and every other tool. A leading /n, n x, *n and ns keep their meanings (divide copies, array, sides), so /3 is still the copy command and 2.5/3 is a length. Same in the other 3D apps that use the m3d value box. Add ModelCraft to tools/lencalc/sync.mjs. Tests: 2.5/3, 12'6"+3/4", (24'-0")/3, 2*450mm, and /3, 3x, 24s unchanged.

Sanity checkM3D-DRIFT Link to M3D-DRIFT CadCraft’s 3D kernel copy has drifted from ModelCraft’s

cadcraft/dev/m3d/ differs from ModelCraft’s since 2026-10-15 (before the lc-model session). It was not re-copied because CadCraft never animates, so it does not need the new methods. Decide whether to re-copy on the next sync, and run the CadCraft 3D tests if so.

FeatureD7.25 Link to D7.25 Show 3D solids (ACIS) from other programs in CadCraft and ModelCraft ArtCraft’s

Asked: open 3D drawings/solids; “where is 3D” (5 mentions, #craft-apps Oct 17, 18, 20; #cadcraft Oct 17, 20). Related DC.1, M3D-DRIFT. Checked 2026-10-21: the handoff is there (the Open in ModelCraft button, OPENIN3D), and CadCraft's 3D tab draws its own solids. But 3DSOLID/REGION/BODY from AutoCAD are kept byte for byte and never drawn — the SAT/SAB inside is not read (acis.js), in CadCraft, ModelCraft and BimCraft. Do: a clean-room SAT/SAB reader for planar and simple curved faces, tessellated for display (edit stays read-only); counted honestly in the import report.

FeatureD7.26 Link to D7.26 STEP import without the exact kernel; STEP in ModelCraft and BimCraft

Asked: STEP (and NC1 steel) support (#cadcraft Oct 20); SolidWorks / Creo / CATIA parts with features (3 mentions, #SolidCraft Oct 18 — STEP named there as the practical bar). Checked 2026-10-21: NC1/DSTV is built (DetailCraft, nc1.js). PartCraft exports a faceted STEP on the mesh kernel, but STEP import (and exact STEP export) needs the OpenCascade kernel, which is off in shipped builds (LGPL) — so a user can't open a STEP today. No STEP in ModelCraft or BimCraft. Native SLDPRT/Creo/CATIA stay out (closed formats); the SolidWorks macro exchange (tools/partcraft-sw) still needs its first run in SolidWorks. Do: a clean-room AP203/214/242 reader for faceted and B-rep bodies (tessellated to the mesh kernel), in PartCraft, ModelCraft and BimCraft. See D7.45 for the kernel.

SpikeD7.45 Link to D7.45 Spike: an exact (B-rep) kernel with a permissive licence, NVIDIA SMLib first

Asked: use a permissively licensed CAD kernel, NVIDIA's open-sourced SMLib suggested (#craft-apps Oct 18); proprietary kernels called the hard part (Oct 20). Related DC.43. Checked 2026-10-21: PartCraft ships on manifold-3d (mesh); OpenCascade is off in shipped builds (LGPL), which is why STEP import, exact fillets and shells don't work for users (see D7.26). The K.1 spike (tools/partcraft-test/k1-spike) last judged truck a no-go. Do: check SMLib's licence and state, build it to WebAssembly, and run the K.1 tests (booleans, fillet, shell, STEP) against it; a go/no-go for the owner. Suggestions 2026-10-22: Asked on /suggest (#747, #748, #749, #750, Oct 16): NURBS surface and class-A modelling. What it would take: SU.747, after this spike.

FeatureD7.49 Link to D7.49 Open STL / OBJ / 3MF meshes as solids in PartCraft

Asked: convert meshes to solids (#SolidCraft Oct 17). Checked 2026-10-21: PartCraft opens only .json and STEP; ModelCraft imports OBJ as faces and treats closed meshes as solids for booleans, but there is no mesh → body path. PartCraft's manifold kernel can take a closed mesh directly. Do: import STL/OBJ/3MF as a body (repair small gaps, report what can't close), usable in booleans and CAM; planar faces merged so sketches can sit on them.

FeatureD7.62 Link to D7.62 More interface languages from volunteers (Vietnamese, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Armenian)

Asked: an Armenian translation; a Vietnamese tester offered; Russian, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian users in the channels (6 mentions, #technical-development Oct 18; #cadcraft Oct 17–21). Related WL.7, ES-MX, LG.4. Checked 2026-10-21: we ship English, Spanish (Mexico, draft) and Indonesian (draft) everywhere, Arabic in CadCraft and PartCraft. Do: a contributor translation kit (string export, a checker for missing keys, the draft label) and invite the Vietnamese volunteer first; each language ships as a draft until a native review (owner picks which). Suggestions 2026-10-22: Asked again on /suggest (#881, Oct 20): a full Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil) interface for every app and tool. A pt-BR draft exists in dev (2026-10-22); pt-PT does not. Owner 2026-10-22: Portuguese is planned as SU.881 (pt-BR kept complete + pt-PT). Owner 2026-10-25: built in 0.7. Studio's hub has 23 interface language files (incl. Vietnamese, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal) and Italian); Armenian is not among them.

FeatureSU.810 Link to SU.810 Open .3dm files; spike a live link to a visual-scripting graph

Asked: a link between the Rhino and CadCraft worlds, maybe a live connection through Grasshopper (#810, Oct 19); a more flexible freeform modeller with better rendering (#860, Oct 20). Related DC.54 (parametric modelling and scripting). Checked 2026-10-22: no app opens .3dm today. The file format's reference toolkit (openNURBS) is published with source under a permissive licence: check it with the licence gate before reading a line. Do: (a) .3dm import in ModelCraft and PartCraft (meshes, Breps tessellated, curves, layers, colours, instances), reported honestly for what isn't read; (b) a one-day spike: what a live link would take (a small plug-in on the other side speaking our MCP/control channel, Track AS), written up for the owner. Rendering is Track RN.

SpikeSU.747 Link to SU.747 Spike: freeform NURBS surface modelling for industrial design

Asked: a concept-to-prototype NURBS surface modeller like the industrial-design ones, whose full version costs about $20,000 a year (#747, #750, Oct 16); class-A surface work for production tooling (#748, Oct 16); large complex assemblies (#749, Oct 16; see D7.40). Checked 2026-10-22: ModelCraft is push/pull (MD.* adds polygon meshes and subdivision), PartCraft is solids on a mesh kernel; nobody models NURBS surfaces. This needs the exact kernel D7.45 looks for. Do: what a surface workspace would take (on D7.45's kernel answer if it is in by then, else on both outcomes) — curves (degree, CVs), skin/loft/sweep/blend, continuity G0–G2 checks (zebra and curvature exist in PartCraft), trimming — sized and written up for the owner; no code in 0.7.

FeatureSU.881 Link to SU.881 Portuguese in 0.7: Brazilian Portuguese kept complete, and Portugal Portuguese

Asked: a full Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil) interface for every app, tool, menu and workflow, for newcomers and professionals who work better in their own language (#881, Oct 20). Owner 2026-10-22: "do Portuguese". Checked 2026-10-22: pt-BR is a finished draft in all 16 scopes (docs/lang-sessions/pt-BR.md; gap fill for bimcraft and modelcraft the same day). There is no pt-PT, and a pt-PT file would fall back to pt then English, never to pt-BR, so it has to be a whole file. Do: (a) pt-PT by the docs/LANGUAGES.md routine — glossary tools/lang/glossary/pt-PT.md with a pt-BR column, as es-ES has es-MX (ficheiro, ecrã, guardar, eliminar, utilizador, pré-visualização; the AO90 spelling; Portuguese NP / EN drafting terms), every scope translated from the English with pt-BR as a reference, never a word swap; (b) pt-BR kept at 0 missing / 0 stale until 0.7 closes, after each session's What's new strings land; (c) both say "Draft translation, not yet reviewed by a native speaker" until a native reviewer reads them (owner item); (d) the language picker lists both by their own names.

FeatureUNITS Link to UNITS Units of measure in every app: many more units, each on or off in Settings, starred default

Owner, 2026-10-22: many more units in every app (CivilCraft will use them most), and a Settings section where each unit is turned on or off for the dropdown lists, with a star for the default. One shared table, lib/units/ (canonical, copied byte for byte into each app by a sync script, like lib/shapes), in place of the five separate lists in cadcraft, civilcraft, markupcraft, modelcraft and takeoffcraft units.js (bimcraft, detailcraft and partcraft have none). Exact factors; the international foot and the US survey foot stay two different units. - Length: nm, µm, mm, cm, dm, m, dam, hm, km; mil (thou), in, ft, ft-in, US survey ft, yd, rod, link, chain, furlong, mile, US survey mile, nautical mile, fathom; point and pica for sheets. - Area: mm², cm², m², are, hectare, km²; in², ft², yd², square (100 ft², roofing), rood, acre, sq mi. - Volume: mm³, cm³, mL, L, m³; in³, ft³, yd³ (CY), US gallon, imperial gallon, board foot, acre-foot. - Angle and slope: degrees, deg-min-sec, gons (grads), radians; percent, H:V, rise:run. Settings › General › Units (the shell's, so every app gets it): one list per kind; each unit has an on/off switch and a star. Every unit dropdown shows only the units turned on, and the starred one is the default for new drawings, measures and items. The settings never change a file: a drawing or project keeps its own unit (DWG $INSUNITS, a CivilCraft project's ft / m / US survey ft), and a unit the file uses shows in its dropdown even when turned off. Typed values take any unit's mark (3 ac, 2.5 mi, 400 nm, 12'6"). Build on bimcraft PR #4 (yisraelk, closes GH.3): its toolbar selector and model-units.js (six units, getDisplayUnits/setDisplayUnits, localStorage bimcraft.model.units) become BimCraft's use of the shared table and Settings list; keep the work and credit, carry the saved choice over. Words in en, es-MX and id. Tests: each conversion against its legal definition, parse ↔ format round trips, the copies byte-identical.

PlatformWS.18 Link to WS.18 Workspace engine follow-up: 11 gaps

The shared layout engine's gaps the seven app sessions found (ws-closing.md § The engine gaps): the registry's own reason for a hidden button, toolbox groups by their shown names, the toolbox redrawn when the app's groups change, a canvas sized between the blocks, the drawing area's bars and their menus over the toolbox column, the toolbar hiding with the bars, pressed tools lit in the ribbon / quick bar / view bar, a steady info-box height, a file that opens as views, the language checker's false alarm, and a busy guard on switching layouts.
