CadCraft Studio

Every app in one install. One file, the whole team.

CadCraft Studio puts all eight apps on your desktop with one home screen to open them from, and lets your team work on one file together, live. It is not another app: it is the same eight apps, together.

Version 0.5 for Windows, macOS and Linux.

CadCraft Studio's home screen: the eight apps as tiles, a box to open a file, and a panel to join a live session.
The home screen: open any app, open a file, join a live session, and sign in once for every app.

What Studio does

  • Eight apps, one install

Drafting, BIM, modeling, markup, takeoff, civil, detailing and parts install together and open from one home screen. Each one is the same app that runs in your browser, so your files and habits carry over.

  • Open a file, get the right app

Drop a drawing, a model or a PDF on Studio, or double-click it in your file manager: it opens in the app that reads it. A PDF asks once whether you want to review it or take quantities from it.

  • One sign-in for every app

Sign in once by approving a short code in your browser, and every app in Studio uses it for the cloud features of your license. Studio shows whose account it is, and you never type your password into it.

  • A shortcut for each app

On Windows and Linux your list of apps shows CadCraft, BimCraft and the rest by name. Each one opens Studio straight into that app, so people who use one app still find it in one click.

  • What is new, in Studio

Release notes, new tutorials and news from getcadcraft.com show on the home screen, and Studio tells you when a newer version is out.

  • Moves in from the separate apps

Installing Studio replaces the apps you installed one by one and brings their settings, recent files and recovery copies along. Nothing you made is left behind.

Studio Live

Studio Live: work on one file together

Share the file you have open and your teammates join in, in any of the eight apps. Your Studio hosts the file and you approve each person. Every edit shows up for everyone as it happens.

Host from Studio on Windows, macOS or Linux. Join from Studio, or from a browser.

  • Edits show up for everyone as they happen, with each teammate's cursor and selection.
  • What you are editing is held for you, so two people never fight over one object.
  • Undo undoes only your own work.
  • Drop off and rejoin where you left off.
  • The host's file is the only real copy: nothing is copied to a server to make it work.
  • Hand the session to a teammate when you have to go, and keep working as an editor.
  • Teammates can join from their own Studio, or from a browser with nothing to install.

Local code

Free, with every app

Read the code out to teammates on your network: Studio finds your session by it. Nothing passes through our servers.

Not open yet

Not open yet: today a session works on your own network. When invite links open, you send one like a meeting link; only the host will need a commercial license, everyone else joins free, and our relay passes only encrypted data it cannot read.

Studio Live never needs an account to join, and the session record stays on the host's computer. See pricing.

Questions

Is Studio a ninth app?
No. Studio is the eight apps together, with a home screen that opens them and keeps their windows in touch. Every app inside it is the same app that runs in your browser.
What does Studio cost?
Nothing. Studio and every app in it are free for any work, commercial work included. Working together on your local network is free too, for everyone. Invite links, for sessions over the internet, are not open yet: when they open, the host will need a commercial license and everyone else joins free. The commercial license also adds the cloud features.
Can I still use just one app?
Yes. On the desktop each app has its own shortcut that opens Studio straight into it. In the browser every app runs on its own at /use, and each one comes as a browser edition you can host yourself.
I installed a separate app before. What happens to it?
The Studio installer finds the apps you installed one by one, asks once, and removes them. Your settings, recent files and recovery copies come over to Studio. An app that is open is never closed for you.
Does Studio need the internet?
No. Studio and the apps work offline, and your files stay on your computer. Signing in, cloud saving, invite links and news need a connection; a local code does not.
Do my teammates need Studio to join a session?
No. On your network they can join from a browser, through the page your Studio serves. Joining from anywhere comes with invite links, which are not open yet. Hosting a session needs Studio on the desktop.
