Arrange your own layout and save your setups

Choose which panel shows the project browser, Properties or the panel's own content, where the toolbox goes and what the bars hold, save it as your own layout, and keep whole setups under a name to switch between them.

Besides the three built-in layouts you can arrange one of your own, and save your whole setup under a name so you can switch back to it in one step.

Arrange your own layout

  1. Open Settings (the gear, or ⌘,Ctrl+,), choose Global, then Layout.
  2. Choose Arrange your own layout…. The dialog starts from the layout you use now.
  3. Give it a name, then choose:
    • Over the drawing: the app's toolbar, a ribbon or neither; a title bar; an info box and which controls it holds.
    • Beside the drawing: the toolbox on the left, on the right or not at all, with or without My tools; which panel holds the palettes, which one is on top (the project browser or Properties, for example), and which are tabs under it.
    • The drawing area: view tabs, a quick bar and a view bar with the controls you tick, the edit palette, a status bar.
    • Look: size, button outlines and tab style.
  4. Choose Use this layout. The app switches to it at once, and every app that has layouts uses it too.

Only what this app has is offered. Your layout is listed under From add-ons and files; Export this layout saves it as a file you can give a colleague, and the remove button takes it away. The panels it fills still dock, float and move to their own windows, as in Arrange the panels.

Save your setup as a work environment

A work environment is your whole setup for every app in this browser: the layout, the menu style and your keys, the toolbar style, the panels and their sizes, and My tools. The theme and the language are not part of it.

  • Save: type a name under Work environments and choose Save my setup. Saving under a name that exists replaces that setup.
  • Switch: pick a setup in the list and choose Switch to it. The app reloads in that setup; if you have unsaved work, the app asks first, as it does on any reload.
  • Share: Export saves the picked setup as a .ccenv.json file; Import a setup… adds one from a file. A file only ever sets these choices, nothing else.
  • Remove: pick a setup and choose Remove.

You can keep up to twelve setups.

To try the built-in arrangements first, see the toolbox and info box layout and the ribbon and project browser layout.
