Your files stay on your computer
When you open a drawing, model or PDF, the app reads it inside your browser. The file is not uploaded. We never see it, and it works the same with no connection.
How saving works
A browser page cannot overwrite files on your computer by itself, so the apps save by downloading a new file:
- The download goes where your browser puts downloads, usually your Downloads folder, unless you have set the browser to ask each time (see Browsers and computers).
- Apps that change a file save a copy with a new name, such as "(edited)" or "(marked up)", so your original stays untouched.
- If you close the tab with unsaved work, the browser asks first ("Leave site?").
What the browser remembers
Some apps remember small settings in your browser, such as your author name or tool styles. They stay in that browser on that computer, and clearing site data removes them. Each app's help says what it keeps.
Cloud saving
Cloud saving and sync between computers are part of the commercial license. They are not available yet. Until then, keep your files where you keep your other project files and back them up the usual way.
