NC file fields
What DetailCraft writes in each DSTV NC file, field by field, and how faces and coordinates are measured.
Written for DetailCraft 0.3. The same help is inside the app: press F1.
Each .nc1 file describes one part mark. Lines end with CR LF. Text fields carry plain ASCII; other characters become "?". The second line is a comment, ** DetailCraft <mark>.nc1.

| Text fields (4) | - | - |
Plates follow the common practice of writing code B with the height as the width and the flange width and thicknesses as the plate thickness.
Outer contours (AK)
- I-shapes: one contour for the web face (v), with a rectangular notch for each cope; one each for the top flange (o) and the bottom flange (u), shortened at an end where a cope is at least as deep as the flange.
- Plates: one rectangle on face v.
Each contour is closed (the first point is repeated at the end).
Holes (BO)
One line per hole: face, x, y, diameter. All holes are included, the ones you typed and the ones connections made.
Faces and coordinates
| Face letter | I-shape | Plate |
|---|---|---|
| v | Web, front | The plate face |
| o | Top flange | |
| u | Bottom flange |
- x runs along the part from its cut start.
- y on the web is measured from the underside of the profile.
- y on a flange is measured from the flange edge on the web-front side. DetailCraft takes the front to be the part's −u side (looking from the start toward the end with the top up, the right-hand side).
- y on a plate is measured from the plate's −u edge.
Check that your machine software uses the same front-face convention before cutting.
