CadCraft Studio 0.8

Eight apps. The whole job.

The Great Eight takes CadCraft Studio beyond drawing and modeling. See how a firm moves from an idea to calculated, reviewed and documented work with the eight apps in Studio.

Eight separate open-source apps in CadCraft Studio. Not SuperCad Studio, the separate all-in-one product.

The project matters more than the app.

Start with a site, a building, a part or an industrial system. Use the right app at each stage, and keep measurements, drawings, checks and decisions moving toward a deliverable.

  1. Make itGeometry and design intent in CadCraft, ModelCraft, CivilCraft, BimCraft or PartCraft.
  2. Engineer itDiscipline data, calculated results, schedules and specialist tools where they are supported.
  3. Check itModel checks, review across disciplines, revisions, and decisions that people own.
  4. Deliver itPlans, model exports, drawings, schedules, quantities and hand-off packages.

Eight apps. Different jobs. One team.

A short silent film of a building and its site moving from concept through engineering to documentation, recorded in the real apps.

Follow the work, not the windows

How firms use Studio

Follow complete project workflows, from initial concept through final deliverables.

Explore workflows

Engineering information belongs beside the drawing.

The Great Eight builds the platform around the engineer, not just the geometry.

Unit-aware

Calculate in context

Calculation sheets live in the file with the project data, in real units, instead of in a spreadsheet off to the side. The engineer still checks the assumptions and the result.

Discipline-ready

Load the right field

Field packs set the apps up for one field of engineering: symbols, components, templates, references, checks and lessons. Some packs go deep, others are a smaller starting kit, and each one says which.

Process-level

Keep related systems connected

For process piping, a P&ID, its line list and the 3D plant share one set of tags, so a mismatch comes up for review. That is one connected workflow, not a live link between every app and every file.

Practical outputs

Show the work

A firm needs more than a model: dimensioned drawings, markups, quantity summaries, detail sheets, schedules and exports. Each of the eight apps ends in a deliverable.

A useful tool at every desk.

An architect may start in ModelCraft, a civil engineer in CivilCraft, a fabricator in DetailCraft. The whole firm does not have to work in one app to work on the same project.

Keep the way your firm works

Each discipline keeps its specialist tool and its professional responsibility. Pick the right file or reference model at each hand-off, review the changes, then issue the deliverables.

Pay because you want it to continue

Community stays free, commercial work included. An owned license is how a firm funds the people building the tools it uses, not a gate in front of the software.

The software is free. Building it is not.

CadCraft is open source, and Community has every app and every feature, for personal work and paid client work alike. An owned license is a permanent commercial license in your name, from $1, and it pays for the people building the Great Eight and what comes after it. It adds no features: nothing is held back from Community.

The Team Cloud Plan is a separate service. It will add team seats, cloud saving and sync.
