Tutorials PartCraft help Walkthroughs
The interactive 3D file
Export the manual as one HTML file that opens offline in any browser, with no install, account or tracking: the model, the views, the parts list (linked both ways), the animation and the magnifier.
Written for PartCraft 0.7. The same help is inside the app: press F1.
Export, then As Interactive 3D file (HTML, opens offline), saves one .html file. Send it by email, put it on a USB stick or a shared folder: it opens in any browser with WebGL 2, on a computer, tablet or phone.
In the file:
- Drag to turn the model, right-drag or ⇧Shift+drag to pan, wheel or pinch to zoom.
- Click a view in the list: the camera moves there and the parts take that view's places, looks, cut and magnifier.
- Click a row of the parts list to light up its parts; click a part to light up its row.
- When the manual has an animation, a bar under the model plays it, pauses it and scrubs through it.
The file carries everything it needs (the model, the viewer and three.js, under its MIT licence) and forbids every request: it cannot reach the internet, has no account and no tracking.
Interactive 3D inside a PDF is not offered: browsers and most PDF readers cannot show it, and the reader that can keeps it switched off by default. The HTML file is the interactive answer.
