Update a manual from the design

When the design changes, Update brings in the new shapes and places and keeps views, annotations, balloon numbers and animation keys. You see what moved, what is new and what was removed before anything changes; it is one undo step.

Written for PartCraft 0.7. The same help is inside the app: press F1.

Click Update from the design… under the manual's name, then choose the open part or assembly, or a file (the same kind the manual was made from).

A report lists what will change:

  • Moved parts, and how far.
  • Changed shape.
  • New parts: shown in every view, with no balloon number yet.
  • Removed parts, with the annotations and animation keys that pointed at them: they go too, and are named here so nothing is dropped silently.
  • Renamed parts.

Click Update to apply it. Parts are matched by their own id in the design, so views, annotations, balloon numbers and keys stay with them. Update is one step: Undo puts the manual back as it was.
