Design tables

Keep several sizes of one part in a CSV file, one row per configuration, and switch between them with one click or build them all from the command line.

Written for PartCraft 0.3. The same help is inside the app: press F1.

A design table is a CSV file with a column for each parameter and a row for each size of the part (a configuration).

name,width,thick,bolt
small,100,6,6.6
medium,140,8,8.5
large,200,12,13

The first column may be called name, config or configuration; every other column must be the name of a parameter of the part. Cells are numbers, with units if you like (8in). An empty cell keeps the parameter as it is.

Use a table

  1. Add the parameters first (see Drive a part with parameters).
  2. On the Parameters tab, under Design table, click Import CSV and choose the file.
  3. Each row is listed with its values. Click Apply on a row.

The parameters take the row's values and the part rebuilds. Applying a row is one step: ⌘ZCtrl+Z goes back.

Export CSV writes the table back out. With no table loaded it writes one row of the current values, a starting point for a spreadsheet. Close table removes it from the panel.

Every size at once

The command line tool builds one file per row:

node tools/partcraft-cli/partcraft.mjs build bracket.pcscript --table sizes.csv --out-dir sizes --format step

See Scripts and the command line.
