Tutorials MarkupCraft help Getting started
What's new in 0.3
The two side panels can now move, dock on any side, float over the sheet or go to their own window on a second monitor.
Written for MarkupCraft 0.3. The same help is inside the app: press F1.
This is what changed in MarkupCraft 0.3, compared with 0.2, the version Try ran before. It is a small release: one new feature, the movable panels. Markups, measuring, compare, the lists and saving work as they did in 0.2.
New
- Movable panels. The Sheets list on the left and the markup panels on the right (Properties, Markups, Punch list, Tools and Compare) each have a grip at the top: a slim bar with the panel's name and a ⋯ button. See Arrange the panels and use a second monitor.
- Drag a panel by its name and drop it on the left, the right or the bottom of the sheet to dock it there. Drop it anywhere else to float it over the sheet. Two panels can share one side.
- Every panel's ⋯ menu does the same from the keyboard: Dock on the left, Dock on the right, Dock at the bottom, Float over the drawing, Move to a new window and Put it back.
- A second monitor. Move all panels to a new window (or Move panels to a new window in Settings) puts the panels in a small window of their own. Drag it to your other screen and the sheet gets the whole main window. In Chrome and Edge, Put it on my other screen places it there for you.
- Reset layout in Settings, under General, puts every panel back where it started. See Settings.
Improved
- In the panels window everything keeps working: the panel tabs, the filters in the Markups list, the compare buttons and the toolbar's state follow what you do there.
- Keys you press in the panels window, other than typing in a box, go to the sheet, so your shortcuts still work. See Keyboard and mouse.
- The sheet thumbnails in the Sheets list still draw when the list is in the panels window.
- The theme and the panel text size in the panels window follow the main window.
- Your layout is kept in this browser with your other settings, and comes back the next time you open MarkupCraft. If the panels were in their own window, the app asks whether to open it again.
Files and compatibility
- Nothing changed in the files. MarkupCraft 0.3 opens and saves PDFs exactly as 0.2 did, and markups saved by either version reopen in the other.
- The panel layout is a setting of this browser, not part of any file. See What stays in this browser.
- The PDF engine is the same version as in 0.2.
Known gaps
- There is one panels window. You cannot drag a panel from one window to the other; use the ⋯ menu.
- Questions and dialogs the app asks still open in the main window, so look there when one appears.
- The status bar and the toolbar do not move; only the two side panels do.
- On a narrow window, where the parts stack, the panels keep the stacked layout.
- A floating panel resizes by its lower-right corner with a mouse only. On a touch screen, use the ⋯ menu to dock it.
- If the browser blocks pop-ups, nothing opens and the panels stay where they were. Allow pop-ups for getcadcraft.com and try again.
- Everything listed in What is not built yet is still not built.
