Written for MarkupCraft 0.3. The same help is inside the app: press F1. Open MarkupCraft

Getting started

  • What's new in 0.3

The two side panels can now move, dock on any side, float over the sheet or go to their own window on a second monitor.

  • Getting started with MarkupCraft

Open a plan set, put your first cloud and callout on a sheet, and save a marked-up copy.

  • A tour of the screen

The toolbar, the sheets list, the sheet area, the five panels on the right and the status bar, by their on-screen names.

  • Files MarkupCraft opens and saves

PDFs in, a marked-up PDF copy out, plus CSV, BCF and tool chest files; where each goes, online and offline.

Walkthroughs

  • Open a plan set and move between sheets

Open one PDF or many, find sheets by number or name, zoom and pan, and rename a sheet when the file gets it wrong.

  • Set your author name

Give the name that goes on every markup, reply and stamp, and know where it is kept.

  • Mark up a sheet

Draw revision clouds, callouts, text boxes, arrows, shapes, pen strokes and highlights, and set their color and line before or after.

  • Select, move and change markups

Pick markups by clicking or with a window, move, resize, nudge, cut, copy, paste, paste in place, duplicate, delete and undo.

  • Stamps and sticky notes

Stamp a sheet Approved, Revise and resubmit or your own wording, and leave sticky notes that open as pop-up comments.

  • Calibrate a sheet and measure

Set each sheet's scale from a preset or a known dimension, then measure lengths, areas with perimeters, and counts.

  • Statuses and replies

Mark each comment Open, Accepted, Rejected or Completed, discuss it in a reply thread, and pass the thread on in the PDF.

  • Make a punch list

Turn markups into numbered punch items with an assignee, a due date and a status, and export the list.

  • The markups list, filters and exports

See every markup in the set, filter by sheet, author, status and type, jump to one, and export the list as CSV or BCF.

  • The tool chest

Save a styled markup as a reusable tool, draw with it, and share your chest with the office as a file.

  • Compare two revisions

Overlay an old and a new issue of a sheet in two colors, line them up by two points, and cloud what changed.

  • Save the marked-up PDF

Download a copy with every markup written in as standard PDF comments, check what other PDF readers see, and keep working on it later.

  • Work with several files at once

Open many PDFs as one set, find sheets across files, copy markups between them, and save each file's copy.

  • Review on an iPad or touch screen

Pinch, pan and draw with your fingers or a stylus, what acts on lift, what needs a keyboard, and how to keep your work safe on a tablet.
