Compare settings

Put two dimension styles, text styles, layers, sheets or unit settings side by side — in one drawing or across two open drawings — see what differs, and copy values across.

Written for CadCraft 0.5. The same help is inside the app: press F1.

What you will learn

How to check whether two drawings (or two styles in one drawing) are set up the same, and bring one in line with the other one value at a time.

Compare

  1. Open the drawings you want to compare, each in its own tab (or just one, to compare two of its own styles).
  2. Click View › More › Compare settings…, or type CMPSET and press ReturnEnter.
  3. In Compare, choose what: Dimension styles, Text styles, Layers, Sheets (page setup) or Units.
  4. On the left, choose the item in this drawing; under Against, choose this drawing or another open one, and then its item.

Every property shows on one row, this drawing's value on the left and the other's on the right. Rows that differ are tinted, and the line above the table says how many. Only what differs hides the rest. Settings for new dimensions is what new dimensions in the drawing take.

Copy a value across

  • Click the arrow pointing right on a row (Copy to the right) to copy the left value to the right, or the arrow pointing left for the other way.

The value lands in that drawing as one undo step: switch to its tab and press ⌘ZCtrl+Z to take it back. Copying onto a layer or style the other drawing doesn't have yet makes it there.
